The sun is shining brightly and the plot is starting to look beautiful, full of colour and activity.
I have been to visit No.27 nearly every evening this week whether it’s to water all the plants or just to have a quick check-in, drop off a new pallet and say hello.
I thought I would give you a quick update on what is in at No.27 or waiting to go in;
Already in place:
– Potatoes – Charlotte & Sarpo Mira

– Celeriac – variety unknown as a gift

– Carrots – Autumn King
– Onions – Bedfordshire Champion

– Sweet Peas – Scented mix
– Poached Egg Flowers
– Cosmos – Xanthos and Sensation mix

– Salad leaves mix

– Blackberries
– Runner beans – St George – waiting to germinate
– Borlotto bean – Firetongue – waiting to germinate
Waiting to get bigger before planting:
– Tomatoes – Gardeners Delight
– Brussels Sprouts – mixed varieties
– Sweetcorn – Swift
– Pumpkin – Rouge Vif d’Etampes
– Squash – Crown Prince & Sweet Dumpling
As I’m trying to be patient and wait for the rest of my plants to get bigger, I spent four hours at the allotment yesterday with a cider and picnic to hand and focused on the other jobs that need doing. To start I went to a local tree surgeons, bagged up and loaded 12 bags of woodchip in to the car.
Upon arrival, I built my newly purchased cordless grass trimmer and put it work immediately. The plot is looking smarter already!
Next job was unloading the woodchip into it’s new place on the main path. I do love the look of grass but it would be so time-consuming in the summer months to keep it looking all smart so I have created a dedicated grass area then the rest will be woodchip.
After a very short break, it was trips back and forth to the water trough to give everything a good watering, grow veggies grow!
Last job of the day was planting the final few cosmos in to my flower bed by the seating area.
The heat certainly speeds up my exhaustion levels, so by 4:15pm I was half asleep and ready to head home, get the dinner on and start work on my final Uni submission.
I’m sure I will be back up the allotment later today for more watering if the sun keeps shining.

Goodness that’s all very impressive. It’s been mostly breezy, cool and dull here so I’ve done more pottering than plotting. xx

You have transformed that plot – well done! We’ve had cool, breezy mornings and sunny afternoons. I managed to get gardener’s sunburn – that gap between jeans and t-shirt :/
