Let me start by saying thank you to all my followers on here, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook and the radio show that wished me luck for my exam that I had on the 19th. I survived and now just have to wait anxiously for 2 months for the results.

Whilst, I wait this means one thing…..FREEDOM!! Freedom from studying and having to juggle work, uni, the allotment and home life.Two months of being able to spend every evening and weekend at No.27 if I really wanted.

What a great feeling!

So yesterday I started as I mean to go on and headed up to the plot about lunchtime to get lots of watering done, 29 x 10l watering cans to be precise. No wonder somebody at work this week said I was starting to look like Popeye!
I was hoping to spend the whole day up there, but the sun was too hot for my pale freckled skin, so did what I could do then headed into the shade. Alongside the watering, I planted out my final Brussels Sprout under netting, transported my two new additions to No.27 ready for planting out, then finished with harvesting some delicious goodies in to my much loved personalised trug.
The newbies to the plot are Lupins!! I have wanted a couple for a while now after seeing them at so many shows, so after seeing two for sale at £2.25 each, I had to snap them up. The first plant ticked off my wish list and so many more to go.

Today I was back en route to No.27, on the way I stopped at Toad Hall Garden Nursery in Henley to get some more feed and see what plug plants they had left over. All garden centre plug plants seem to be reducing now ready for the autumn plants to come in. Amongst the usual tomatoes, chillies and peppers, I spotted a few trays of a plant I did not recognise. On closer inspection they were Cucamelons, looking a bit worse for wear but hanging in there. I have heard so many positive stories and passion for Cucamelons; and at £2.95 for the tray I thought I will try save them. One tray had 3 plants, one 4 and the other 5 plants, all for the same price, so off to the till I went with the tray of 5 of course. Even if only one survives and fruits then its worthwhile.
So I was at the till and I could tell the lady was trying to work out the price, so I pointed out the price label politely and she said “No, I can’t charge you that, look at them, have them for 99p”. Bonus!!!!
So me and my 5 cucamelon plants skipped out to the car and headed to No.27.

I was back at No.27 by midday to feed all the fruiting plants; tomatoes, pumpkins, squashes, mini cucumbers, chillies, flowers and beans.
I cut back the ‘Charlotte’ potato growth to prevent blight taking hold, planted out my two Lupins and the saved cucamelon plants, weeded the flower bed and admired the view over lunch from my seating area.
It was then time to head home and eat the goodies I harvested yesterday; ‘Boltardy’ Beetroot, ‘Autumn King’ Carrots, Dwarf French Beans, Radishes and some cuttings of Chocolate Mint. Yummy!!

That’s it from me for today, I’m shattered and have a Gardeners World magazine that needs reading before bed.

I will leave you with some more photos of No.27 over the last couple of weeks; the sweetcorn is growing fast, pumpkins and squashes are taking over the beds and paths, sweet peas and runner beans are finally flowering, and the spinach and chard I sowed two weeks ago have said hello. Everything is growing well, minus a few plants especially the yellow courgettes that are hanging in there.
