School Programmes

Life at No.27 delivers both short term and year round gardening based programmes in to primary and secondary schools across Oxfordshire and South Northamptonshire. Supporting students who need an alternative education environment, either as a group and or 1-2-1.

We can also support children in their home environment as long as a safe, outdoor space is available.

Wellbeing Programme

Group size – for individuals or small groups of up to 6 children based on site.

Timings – minimum 2 hour sessions starting in the morning or afternoon, however other programme timings can be explored to fit into the school timetable.

Duration – taster sessions, 4/ 6/ 12 week, or long term/ ongoing.

The Wellbeing Programme gives selected individuals an opportunity to gain more time, space and attention away from the distractions of the classroom. Pupils who benefit massively from these sessions are those struggling with mental health illnesses, difficult home situations, anxiety and low confidence, including those already with CAMHS and on the SEND register with SEMH needs.

Individuals will develop social skills and learn new practical skills which ultimately will help them grow in confidence, self-esteem and self-reliance. The small group will help create a safe space where each person’s needs are supported. There will also be opportunities for self-reflection in order to expand self-awareness.

The overarching objective is for the children’s emotional wellbeing to grow whilst building resilience. This will be done through achieving numerous small challenges and giving them the skills to be more able to deal with unpredictable events at school, and life in general.

Monitoring learning and progression
We have developed our own system of daily reporting where students are assessed on their Effort, Behaviour, Engagement and Support for Others. These indicators are marked on a scale of 0 – 4, which when totalled will give an overall grade (not passed/pass/merit/distinction) for their day. These scores are then tabulated and plotted on a graph to show overall trends, strengths or areas for improvement.

Wellbeing Assessment – A student’s wellbeing is assessed at the start and end of short term (6 week) programmes and intermittently for longer term programmes. This tool helps identify underlying factors that we might not necessarily be aware of, giving an overall better understanding of a young person’s needs.

Reporting – Individual reporting takes place at the end of programmes, or at the end of every term depending on programme duration.

All students who complete the programme receive a certificate.

Feedback from students:
